Internship at Noction: An excellent kick-start for your IT career

Beginning your career is exciting, but with the lack of experience and knowledge about the desired field, it can be challenging to find your first job. By establishing internship programs, Noction helps interns to develop crucial technical skills and other industry-related abilities. As a result, by the time they complete their internships, they possess the knowledge, skills, and experience we look for in entry-level candidates and get an offer from the company.

We asked Mihai Plamadeala – a recent successful internship graduate who continues his journey with Noction as a Front-End Developer, to share some feedback about his trainee experience.

How did you find out about the Internship opportunity at Noction?

As a student with little experience in the IT domain, I was looking for challenges and opportunities in different fields. I didn’t know what the beginning of my career would look like. So, I was monitoring the career pages of IT Companies which met my criteria – a renowned company with 5+ years of experience with well-settled business processes. One day I saw the announcement about the paid Front-End internship at the Noction website and dared to send my CV. And here I am!

What are the benefits of an internship at Noction?

The main benefit for me was the support of experienced mentors throughout the whole internship period. I was learning from the best professionals in the field, who have many international projects in the background. Mentors set tasks, reviewed my approaches to dealing with them, and suggested more effective problem-solving methods. Detailed feedback with the indication of the growth points helped a lot in my professional development. I am now convinced that mentorship is one of the best ways to acquire new skills and knowledge, as having a person who’s been in your shoes to guide you saves you a lot of time and mistakes.

Moreover, the company’s flat organizational structure and healthy work environment encourage interns to prove themselves. I freely offered ideas to my more experienced colleagues and always felt supported and appreciated for my contribution to the project.

Last but not least, those interns who successfully manage tasks are more than likely to get their first job offer after the internship graduation.

What advice would you give to future interns?

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. There is an unspoken rule: if something does not work out for half an hour, you can go to senior colleagues for advice to avoid losing the whole day because of a nonsense problem‎.
  2. As you approach the task, do it from a “sponge” perspective—be ready to soak up every bit of information that comes your way.
  3. Don’t underestimate the importance of soft skills. Programming in a product company is not only about writing code but also the ability to communicate effectively with your colleagues.
