Why Noction Flow Analyzer
What Teams Look for in a ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer Alternative
The ManageEngine Interface-Count Problem
ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer uses a per-interface licensing model. Every interface you configure for flow monitoring — whether on a router, switch, or firewall — counts against your licensed interface quota. Once you exceed your tier, you need to purchase additional interface capacity or upgrade to a higher tier.
This model creates a practical challenge in growing networks: adding new devices, expanding to new sites, or simply onboarding more switching infrastructure directly increases your licensing cost. Users have also noted that interfaces can be automatically added to monitoring, inadvertently consuming licensed interface slots until manually un-managed.
NFA’s licensing is based on flows per second — a measure of traffic volume, not the number of interfaces. You can monitor every interface in your environment under a single license, with no counting, no automatic slot consumption, and no per-device cost growth.

One Edition. No Tiers.
No "You Need to Upgrade for That."
ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer offers three editions — Professional, Standard, and Enterprise — each unlocking progressively more features and interface capacity. Capabilities such as advanced multi-site monitoring, certain reporting features, and deep capacity planning analytics vary by edition.
NFA has a single edition. Every feature is available from the first login: multi-site dashboards, per-AS traffic analysis, protocol breakdowns, custom alerting, SNMP integration, and the optional BGP add-on. There is no sales conversation required to unlock advanced functionality.
This matters particularly during trials and early deployment. With NFA, you evaluate the complete product — the same experience you get in production is what you evaluate during the 30-day free trial.
scale without friction
Grow Your Network. Not Your Interface Count.
Add Devices. Add People. Add Sites. Never Add Costs.
NFA’s price tier is determined by flows per second — a function of your overall traffic volume, not the number of individual interfaces exporting data. Deploy NFA to a new data center, commission a full spine-and-leaf switching fabric, add a remote site with a dozen access switches: the flows-per-second metric may increase, but you won’t cross a new tier simply by adding more devices.
This makes NFA particularly well-suited for enterprises expanding their campus networks, ISPs building out new PoPs, and MSPs onboarding new client networks — anywhere that interface count grows independently of traffic volume.
Multi-Protocol · Multi-Vendor · BGP
All the Protocols You Need.
Both NFA and ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer support the major flow export protocols — NetFlow v5/v9, IPFIX, sFlow, J-Flow, and NetStream.
NFA’s distinct advantage is its optional BGP integration. By establishing a BGP session with your routers, NFA annotates every flow record with full AS_PATH, origin AS, and next-hop data from your live BGP routing tables. This enables traffic analysis that goes well beyond bandwidth reporting: identifying which transit providers carry which traffic, optimizing peering relationships, and attributing bandwidth costs to specific ASNs. ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer does not offer this capability natively.
NFA is validated with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Arista, MikroTik, Brocade, Alcatel, Vyatta, ZTE etc. equipment. Any device that exports standard flow data is supported.
NFA establishes BGP sessions with your routers to receive live routing table updates. Every flow record is annotated with AS_PATH and origin AS data — enabling peering analysis and routing optimization that pure flow analysis cannot provide.
